Ear Impression Guide

Guide for ear impression for custom IEM manufacturing

What is an Ear Impression?

An ear impression is a silicone mold of your ear canal. This impression is used to create a custom IEM shell that fits your ears perfectly.

  • A certified audiologist captures your ear shape using special silicone
  • Precise impressions determine perfect fit and sound isolation
  • The process takes about 10-15 minutes and is painless

Ear Impression Process

1

Visit a Local Audiologist or ENT Clinic

Our designated branches operate domestically only. Overseas customers should visit a nearby audiologist (hearing care professional), ENT (ear, nose & throat) clinic, or hearing aid center to obtain ear impressions.

2

Ear Examination

The audiologist will check your ear health. Excessive earwax or ear conditions may prevent impression taking.

3

Impression Taking

Special silicone is injected into your ear canal and allowed to set. Both ears are done, taking about 10-15 minutes total. The fee is set by each clinic — please contact the clinic directly.

4

Ship Impressions to HIDITION HQ

Use a tracked international courier (DHL, FedEx, EMS) to ship your impressions to our headquarters. Always include your order number inside the package.

1

Visit a Local Audiologist

Find a certified audiologist, ENT clinic, or hearing center near you. Most audiologists offer ear impression services for custom in-ear monitors.

2

Share Our Requirements With the Audiologist

Make sure the impressions meet the following requirements, otherwise they may be rejected upon arrival.

  • Material — high-viscosity silicone
  • Depth — past the second bend of the ear canal
  • Both ears required
3

Ship to HIDITION

Notes

  • 1Production begins as soon as your ear impression is received.
  • 2Re-impression may be required depending on the condition.
  • 3Due to the custom nature of the product, cancellation/refund is not available once production has started.
  • 4Ear impressions received at our headquarters are deformed and consumed during production (cutting, casting, etc.) and are not returned to the customer under any circumstances. They are stored separately during the warranty period (at least 1 year) for dispute and warranty support, then safely disposed of.
